This past week was National Body Image Week. Throughout the week, seniors K Short and Olivia Turley organized several events to promote body neutrality and spread information on body image.
On Friday, October 27, Turley spoke on body neutrality, the importance of body image and the values it promotes.
“Body neutrality helps us recognize our worth as based on our internal self rather than our external self,” said Turley. “It is a much more approachable and attainable goal.”
During the program, participants wrote letters to a body part of theirs they appreciated and then discussed the letters. Turley also talked about peoples’ beliefs on body image.
“Your body is the least important thing about you,” said Turley. “You are more than your body, and your worth has nothing to do with your appearance.”
