Closing out Greek Week, the Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards celebrate the FSL community’s work throughout the year. This year, Greek Awards were hosted by Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Student Engagement, Cullen Marshall, Greek Week Directors Jaydon Wilbon and Maddie Boley, along with several guest presenters.
Monmouth College President Patricia Draves gave a welcoming remark.
“Tonight is a remarkable evening that marks your contributions and contributions of Sorority and Fraternity Life at Monmouth College and recognizes individual accomplishments. We know those individuals are part of this community and the Sorority and Fraternity Life community, and those are special awards,” said President Draves.
Following Draves’s welcome, Order of Omega President Bronte De Zwart announced new members of the honor society and recognized members graduating in the next month. After those recognitions, the award portion of the night began.
“Each and every member of Greek life plays a significant role in the success of their chapter, and tonight we celebrate you all,” said Greek Week Director Jaydon Wilbon.
Fraternities and sororities receive packets and are encouraged to nominate others who fit each award’s requirements. These awards are then judged by a diverse group of judges and scored.
“Our awards process provides a means whereby the sororities and fraternities of Monmouth College may measure their activities and programs against their founding principles,” said Marshall. “It also helps ensure that the actions of our organizations are congruent with the values articulated in our rituals and creeds.”
Kappa Kappa Gamma took home the most awards with five in total. This chapter was recognized for various achievements like Excellence in Involvement and Leadership Development, Outstanding Chapter Program, and more.
The overall winner of Greek Week was tied between Zeta Beta Tau and Sigma Phi Epsilon with 1,650 points. Kappa Kappa Gamma with 1,640 points earned second place, and in third was Alpha Xi Delta with 1,620 points, who also won the spirit stick.
