This past weekend Monmouth College Women’s soccer played at Concordia University Chicago and Buena Vista University in a weekend road trip series.
The Scots began their weekend series at Concordia University Chicago in a double overtime thriller that saw senior Makayla Shaw score a 108th minute goal to seal the deal on a 2-1 win in hostile territory.
The Scots started the game off strong when senior Jacie Reis netted her second goal of the season putting the scots up 1-0 in the 19 minute. Concordia came out after the break and scored a goal in the 50 minute to level things at one.
After the thrill and excitement of the Concordia game the Scots travelled to Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa for a tune up match.
At Buena vista the Scots dominated from kick off with sophomore Erica Bossard netting a goal within the first two minutes of the game. No more than fifteen minutes later Jordyn Gosell scored putting them up 2-0 and in the 40th minute freshman Yari Aguado netted a third goal and put the Scots up 3-0 heading into the halftime break.
After the half Devin Cross netted the fourth goal of the game putting them at a comfortable 4-0 lead. Buena Vista would go on to score one goal in the 84 minute, but it would prove to be too little too late for the Beavers of Buena Vista.
The Scots are now 3-0-1 on the season and play at home this Saturday against Webster University, kick off is at 12:00PM.
