Monmouth women’s soccer began their 2025 season with an impressive 3-0 victory over the Eureka Red Devils on Aug. 29 before finding themselves on the wrong side of a shutout against the Millikin Big Blue the following Tuesday.
Kiersten Medinger, midfielder, opened the scoring for the Scots in the 32nd minute of the first contest, calmly tucking way a penalty kick from 12 yards out. Just four minutes later, Natalie Morrow, defender, found her way into the back on the net on a rare olimpico, a goal scored directly off of corner taking no deflections from other players. Finally, Medinger capped off the night for the Lady Scots in the 44th minute off an assist by Molly Shook, forward.
Monmouth dominated the game in its other aspects, out-shooting the Red Devils 22-1 throughout the entire 90 minutes. Senior goalkeeper Brontë De Zwart had a very easy day between the posts, only needing to register one save in the game.
On Tuesday, September 2nd, the Scots were blanked by Millikin University 6-0. De Zwart registered four saves in that game.
After a 5-0 blanking of Blackburn College at home, the Scots will play at Peacock Park again Saturday, Sept. 13 versus Buena Vista on the second half of a men-women doubleheader. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
