This past weekend, Monmouth College women’s soccer faced off against two Midwest Conference foes at Peacock Memorial Athletic Park, with the first being against Lake Forest College.
The Foresters started the game by netting a goal in the 8 minute to put them on top 1-0. A minute later, senior Kara-Jade Gordon had the equalizer. Later in the first half, senior Jacie Reis scored to put the Scots ahead 2-1 before the halftime break.
After the break, the Scots came out firing on all cylinders, with sophomore Sarah Poirer scoring a goal in the 58th minute. In the 82nd minute, freshman Mikayla McCart netted a goal to put the Foresters away.
Sunday was Senior Day for the Fighting Scots as they played Lawrence University. The scoring barrage started early on for the Fighting Scots as they piled on three goals before the halftime break.
The Scots started the second half strong as Gordon scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the half, putting the Scots at a commanding 5-1 lead. Midway through the second half, junior Devin Cross scored, giving the Scots a 6-1 lead, which would prove to be enough to put the Vikings away.
The women plays their final home game this Saturday in a doubleheader against Grinnell College.
