Five-minutes passed before another goal would be scored, but Monmouth scored in close intervals after that as Kara-Jade Gordon connected on a shot in the seventh-minute followed closely by an Aspen Chadderdon goal only 55-seconds later to lift the Scots to a 3-0 lead.
Kara-Jade Gordon would tack on a pair of goals in the final ten-minutes before Cornell’s Cassidy Greer recorded the Rams lone goal of the first-half, cutting the Monmouth lead to four at halftime.
The Rams came hard-charging out of the gates in the second-half as they scored three goals in the opening eight-minutes. Amanda Green would score on a shot off a pass from Angham Jaradat to give the Scots some breathing room at 6-4.
Kara-Jade Gordon created a turnover and scored in transition to boost the lead to three, while Angham Jaradat scored of an assist from Lexi Tibbs to force a Cornell timeout with under ten-minutes remaining in play.
Gordon scored the final goal of the game for the Scots, before a late rally by the Rams tacked on three goals in the last four-minutes of play.
