The Fighting Scots women’s golf team played September 29-30 at the Illinois College Fall Tournament.
Sophomore Morgan Bemis led the team on Sunday with a 77. Senior Haley Hoekstra and sophomore Dani Freeman followed closely both scoring an 81.
Junior Mamie Ambrosch rounded out the team, scoring an 82. Senior Jessi Haines carded a non-scoring 100 in her first round. Monmouth ended the first day with a total score of 321. That was good enough to put them in first place on Sunday. In her individual round, Senior Kaniesha Whatley scored a 104. Monday, Freeman led the team with an 82. Her combined score was 163. Bemis added 10 strokes Monday and posted an 87. Her final score was a 164. Hoekstra had an 83 Sunday, giving her a combined score of 164. Ambrosch rounded out the team, also scoring an 83 giving her a combined score of 656. Haines dropped 6 strokes and finished Monday with a non-scoring 94. Monmouth had a team score of 656 and finished the tournament in first place. Whatley finished her individual round Monday with a 97.
Monmouth then played Tuesday at the Iowa Wesleyan University Tiger Classic. Monmouth finished in first place with a combined team score of 328.
Next up for the Fighting Scots is the SLIAC Conference Championship in Jacksonville, Illinois, on Monday, October 7, and Tuesday, October 8.
