The Lady Scots took to the court last Saturday in their Senior Day game against conference rival Ripon College. The women put up a hard fight but fell to the Redhawks in a 62-49 loss. The Scots’ current season record stands at 12-7 with a 9-4 conference record.
The women had a slow start in the first quarter with the Redhawks up 9-0 before the Scots got on the board. Senior Kaitlyn Osmulski then hit a three pointer, followed by senior Jordan Kintigh bringing the score up to 21-5 before the end of the first quarter. To finish the first half of the game, Kintigh scored another basket, Osmulski had two free throws, and junior Jadyn Mitchell scored a three pointer.
The second half started with the Scots down 35-20. Junior Zoie Wall made a three pointer followed by Kintigh making a basket, cutting down the Redhawks’ lead to ten points. This, however, was as close as the Scots got before Ripon went on a 6-0 run to end the quarter. Although the Scots made a valiant effort in the last quarter, they weren’t able to cover the lost ground earlier in the game and ended the game with a loss.
The Scots did manage to maintain their second place standing in the Conference, one game ahead of Knox College. The Scots will play another conference game on Sunday, February 20, at Lawrence University in Wisconsin at 3:00 pm.
