Get Out
Get Out is a 2017 film directed by Jordan Peele. It is a suspenseful horror-comedy that is worth the hype. The main character, Chris, played by Daniel Kaluuya, visits his girlfriend’s family. Rose, played by Allison Williams, and her family come off as the picture-perfect suburban family. Almost immediately, Kaluuya’s character feels uneasy about his stay. He finds Rose’s family may be hiding malevolent secrets. He has to decide whether to trust his girlfriend or get out.
Beetlejuice
This 1988 movie, directed by Tim Burton, is a classic Halloween comedy. Beetlejuice explores the afterlives of Barbara and Adam Maitland, played by Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin, who are stuck haunting their home. When a new family moves in and starts wreaking havoc, they enlist the help of Beetlejuice, played by Michael Keaton, to ward off the family.
Jennifer’s Body
Jennifer’s Body is a 2009 horror-comedy film. It was directed by Diablo Cody and starred Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried. The movie follows Needy (Seyfried) and her best friend Jennifer (Fox), who becomes possessed by a demon. Jennifer eats men to stay beautiful, and Needy vows to stop her. Not only is this movie amusing, but it explores deeper themes of friendship.
Coraline
Coraline is a 2009 animated fantasy movie directed by Henry Selick. It follows Coraline, voiced by Dakota Fanning, who is exploring her family’s new home. Coraline finds a door to another world very similar to hers, except everything is perfect. Coraline finally gets to spend time with her parents, and her new neighbors are much more entertaining. Little does she know this new world comes with a sinister cost.
Scream
This 1996 slasher film is a cult-classic Halloween movie directed by Wes Craven. Scream starred Neve Campbell, who played Sidney Prescott. When Sidney’s classmates start getting murdered, Sydney, with the help of her friends, tries to discover who the ghost-faced killer is. Scream includes many horror movie tropes, which only adds to its entertainment.
Hocus Pocus
This nostalgic 1993 film follows Max, played by Omri Katz, who recently moved to Salem, MA, with his family. Directed by Kenny Ortega, this fantasy movie is a Halloween must-watch. While Max attempts to impress a girl, he accidentally releases three ancient witches on the town. Guided by a cat, Max must find a way to stop the witches from becoming all too powerful.
Clue
Based on the famous board game, the 1985 film Clue perfectly captures the game’s mystery. The movie, directed by Jonathon Lynn, includes three different endings. Observe six dinner party guests try to solve the mystery of blackmail and murder.
