Over the weekend, Monmouth College volleyball started off their conference season against the top two ranked teams in the Midwest Conference, Grinnell College, and Cornell College. The Scots lost in three sets to both teams but kept it within four points each set with Grinnell.
Senior captain, Amanda Dybal finished with a total of nine hits, four blocks, and fifteen digs. “They are both very talented teams and competition like this will only make us better,” says Dybal. “We have a long way to go but I am proud of how we performed.”
Sophomore libero Savannah Robinson led the Scots with twenty-eight total digs over the weekend. “As a younger player on the team, I see the potential we have to grow. We have a lot of very talented younger players and great seniors leading us as well,” says Robinson. “It’s games like this that will teach us and make us better.”
The Scots could possibly see both of these teams again at the conference tournament in November.
The Scots will host Lake Forest next Saturday at 11:00 AM as a part of homecoming events. The two seniors, Amanda Dybal and Sarah LaHood will be recognized at this game.
