The Scots are now 3-3 after their weekend tournament at the North Central Tournament in Naperville. The Fighting Scots played on Friday the 6th against Rose-Hulman and lost the first set 19-25. Then they lost the second set 17-25 and a close third set 23-25. The Scots had 30 kills to Rose-Hulman’s 47. Junior Riley Cook led Monmouth with 8 kills and senior Laura Dulee led the team with 17 assists.
On Saturday the 7th, Monmouth started the day out against North Central College. Monmouth won the first set 25-14. They then fell in the next three sets 15-25, 19-25, and 19-25. Cook again led the team with 8 kills. Cook also led the team in aces (4) and blocks (4). Dulee led the team with 16 assists and junior Renee Rude led the team with 17 digs. Monmouth finished out Saturday against Coe, losing the first two matches 16-25 and 13-25. Monmouth managed to win a close third set 27-25. They then lost the final set 15-25. Senior Lauren Sperry led the Fighting Scots with 10 kills.
The Scots will try to turn it around next weekend at the Knox College Tournament in Galesburg. They play Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th. They will play Central College at 2:00 and Saint Mary-Of-The-Woods at 6:00. Saturday, they start the day against Anderson University at 2:00 and end their tournament play against Iowa Wesleyan at 4:00.
