The Fighting Scots volleyball team’s season came to a close on Saturday, November 2. The Scots finished conference play with a 3-0 against Beloit College on Sunday, October 27. They finished with a conference play record of 4-5. They tied for fifth in the conference, just one spot out of an MWC Tournament berth. The Scots finished their regular season play at the Augustana Invitational.
Friday, November 1, the Scots opened with a loss to Central College losing 1-3. The Scots won the first set 25-23 and then lost the next three sets 27-25 and 25-18 in both the third and fourth set. Junior Riley Cook led the team with 11 kills. Senior Laura Dulee led the team with 24 assists, and junior Renee Rude led in digs with 22.
On Saturday, Monmouth opened their day playing Nebraska Wesleyan. Monmouth played a hard match taking 2 of the 5 sets. Monmouth again started with a win, winning the first set 25-16. NWU took the next set winning 26-24. Monmouth broke the tie in the first set winning 25-19. NWU then answered winning the last two sets 25-23 and 15-12. Senior Ashley Farris led the team with 18 kills. Dulee led the team with 49 assists, and Renee led in digs with 26.
The Scots then ended their season with a loss to Augustana College. They lost 1-3. For the third time in the invitational, Monmouth won the first set, this time winning 28-26. They then lost the next three sets 25-23, 25-22, and 25-19. Senior Lauren Sperry and Farris led the team with 14 kills apiece. Dulee led the team in assists (40) and aces (2). Rude again led the team in digs (28). Monmouth finished the season 12-16. They had a home record of 6-2, an away record of 4-7, and a neutral record of 2-7.
