MONMOUTH — The newest dining venture of brothers Brad Bernardi and Matt Bernardi is set to open Wednesday in Monmouth.
The Trax Northside Grill is a full-service restaurant and bar at 2 AmericInn Way, which had been vacant since Petey’s Pub and Grill closed in August 2018.
The Bernardi brothers also are co-owners of the Sully’s Pub and Sidetrax restaurants in Galesburg, and their family has been in the restaurant business since the 1920s.
They have hired about 40 employees to work at the restaurant in Monmouth, which will be open seven days a week. Doors will open at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
“We’re excited to expand into another college town that’s close enough for us to travel to,” Matt Bernardi said. “We felt like this was a really great opportunity.”
According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, The Trax Northside Grill will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday; from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; and from 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
The menu includes favorites from Sully’s and Sidetrax such as wings and half-pound burgers, as well a large selection of appetizers, soups and salads, sandwiches, horseshoes, pizza, and a dinner menu that is served all day.
“Our burgers and wings are always a huge draw for us,” Bernardi said.
The restaurant’s dinner menu includes steak, ribs, seafood, and some of the Bernardis’ Italian specialities.
The full menu is posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
Renovations to the restaurant include updated decor in the dining area and equipment upgrades in the kitchen to get up to code.
The restaurant has a sports-bar atmosphere with 16 TVs and booths, tables and bar seating.
Originally the Bernardis had hoped to be open in January but were slightly delayed. “Everything takes a little more time than you think,” Bernardi said. “We’re excited to get things rolling.”
