One of golf’s most beloved players, Tiger Woods got into a horrible car crash on a Tuesday afternoon February 23rd right outside the city limits of Los Angeles.
Immediately after the crash, Woods underwent several hours of emergency surgeries. Doctors said that he suffered open fractures -- bones that were broken into more than two pieces and with breaks in the skin -- in the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula of his right leg. After the surgeries, Woods was awake and responding which is a good sign.
The injuries Woods suffered may keep him off the course for a while but he is lucky to be alive. According to police, Woods had to be extracted through the front windshield because the car was on its side.
Many great athletes and celebrities via Twitter and Instagram wished Woods a speedy and safe recovery. Golfers honored him by wearing red golf shirts on Sunday. Woods is known for wearing a red golf shirt for PGA tournaments.
