Monmouth College’s women volleyball team faced the Red Devils Eureka College in Glennie Gym on Wednesday October 16.
The Red Devils gave it their all in the first set, but the Scots got the best of them, ending it with a 26-24 Scots’ win. Monmouth’s Lauren Aldrich (Wauconda, IL) had the most kills, ending the set with her eighth kill of the night.
Eureka’s Alyssa Company (Lincoln, IL) kept her team in the game, pushing them into the lead at the top of the second set. By the end, the Scots pulled away with a 25-14 set win, and a 2-0 overall, when freshman Tyla Mattson (Morton, IL) finished the set with an ace.
The Scots were on a roll in the third set. Chloe Strachan (Reynolds, Illinois) dominated the scene with several kills. At the end of the set, Monmouth pulled a 25-17 win, ending the match at 3-0.
The Scots would drop one to Cornell last Friday and turn around and defeat Beloit on Saturday. That win improved their record to 15-9 overall and 4-1 in conference. The team is home this Saturday at 1:00 for another conference match against Lawrence.
