Entrepreneurship can be a difficult endeavor, but worth it if you know the system. On Monday, Alum Chris Byes of Advanced Rehab and Sports Medicine discussed his experiences in the physical therapy business stationed in 13 different towns.
“There is a steep learning curve to running a business and you need to be prepared,” said Byes. “Being an entrepreneur, you have to get your ducks in a row as being a startup is tough but not impossible.”
He discussed the numerous pitfalls of running a business, such as insurance policies, partnerships, lawyers, legality, and lobbying. Byes said, "Get stuff written down, lawyer up, and get an attorney to read your contracts. It will help in the long run.”
Byes believes anybody can run a business. “If you want to do well in running a business, you need to be competitive for it, and you need to be able to satisfy your own growth with your business, as if you don’t like it, why do it?” said Byes.
