The empty symphony

While there were few in attendance, the music of The Galesburg Jammers and Monmouth Civic Orchestra filled the emptiness of Dahl Chapel on March 2nd.. “Despite COVID we come back stronger than we were before,” said Galesburg Jammers’ director, Jeff Davis.
A composition of Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time" was sung by Carol Maloney as the vocalist for the Jammers. The composition started out with vocals until the band joined. It completed symphony in all its sound and harmony.
The orchestra started off strong, playing “Sonnenaufgang.” Rich Cangro began the second song with “little dots of sound.” The sound didn’t come all at one, but slowly and piece by piece.
Audience members seemed to be on the edge of their seats waiting for moreas the applause held, before Cangro turned and said, “that was the end everyone.”
