On Thursday afternoon, October 17th people brought their pets to the Trubeck Amphitheater for a blessing.
"The Blessing of the Animals service is a wonderful ceremony that helps remind us of the importance of all of creation,” said College Chaplain John Huxtable. “It is an honoring of God’s creation and the gift of celebrating all whom we walk this earth with”.
Huxtable said that the participants make the service special and wonderful. “I love seeing the animals that have been to all three, as well as all that attended for the first time this year. It is a special service that I cherish being able to have on campus each year.”
During the meditation, Huxtable talks about how animals are companions and friends to each one of us. "They share our lives, and they are interwoven into the fabric of our life stories…Blessing animals brings us humility and respect and they are a gift from God.”
This service honors the Feast of Saint Francis.
