Thanksgiving break is almost upon us, coming not a moment too soon. To ensure a relaxing and stress-free holiday, check out this information that will help you plan and organize for the break ahead. The last day of classes will be on Tuesday, Nov. 26, with break beginning at the end of the day. The Stockdale Center will be open until 5pm on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and the last meal will be breakfast served that morning. The library will be closed on Thursday, November 28, and reopen at 6pm on Sunday December 1. For the Huff’s break hours, check out the college’s Wellness page. Campus housing will close at noon that Wednesday, and only students who have special permission will be allowed to remain. Students wishing to stay on campus over break must contact the Office of Residence Life before 4pm on Friday, Nov. 22.
If you are in need of transportation, the college also offers airport and train station shuttles. The Galesburg Amtrak shuttle costs $15 each way and departs from the Huff on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 5:30pm. The Peoria/Moline Airport shuttle costs $40 each way and departs from Stockdale at four separate times: Tuesday, Nov. 26, at noon and 7 pm Wednesday Nov. 27, at 7 am, and later that day at noon. When break is over, the Amtrak shuttle will leave the station at 5:45 pm on Sunday, Dec. 1, and return to campus. The Peoria/Moline Airport shuttles will depart from each airport at noon and 7pm that same day. Reservations for Scots shuttles must be made at least six days before your scheduled departure. To make a reservation, contact the Stockdale Student Center at stockdale@monmouthcollege.edu or call 309-457-2345.
At the end of break, housing halls will reopen at noon on Sunday, Dec. 1, and food services will resume with dinner that evening. Classes resume Monday, Dec. 2, and come to a close again that Wednesday in preparation for finals, making this the last full week of classes of the semester … so, that’s something to be thankful for! Hopefully, everyone is able to enjoy this much-needed break and travel back safely, feeling refreshed and ready to crush finals!
