A green light on Saturday began an Army mission to invade a compound that housed known ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Intelligence had been tracking and gathering intel on al-Baghdadi’s movements and location for months before the deadly raid.
The video of the raid, released Wednesday by the Pentagon, shows the assault force swarming the compound, clearing non-combatants and targeting perceived threats.
After invading the compound, military forces chased al-Baghdadi into a tunnel. The ISIS leader then detonated an explosive vest that he wore, which was the cause of his death.
According to U.S. Central Command, “the operation was exquisitely planned and executed.”
