With a busy weekend here, the Fighting Scots Swimmers were ready to host Grinnell, Lake Forest, and Illinois College. The Men placed third above Illinois College and the women came fourth. Freshman Jaidlyn Sellers placed first in the 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 0:26.34 seconds and placed second in the 100-Yard Freestyle with a 0:58.28. Junior Captain, Preston Bocchi, placed first in the 100-Yard Freestyle with a 0:48.66.
After talking to Coach Burek, he believes that the invite was successful with “great team effort” and “over 20 swimmers scoring points.” Burek also said, “Our freshman swimmers are having a great impact on our team this season.” The coaching staff’s focus based on how the season is going, they plan to “continue working on the fundamentals and doing the little things correct.”
Now that the men’s water Polo season has ended this past weekend, Kyle Jones, Quentin Bartram, and Joseph Addison will be going straight to the start of their swim season. Burek stated, “We are looking forward to the men from water polo returning to the team, one of which is a freshman so he will be learning our program from the ground up. We will be introducing them to a lot of swim training which is very different from polo. Slow and deliberate with them so they learn!”
The Fighting Scots are looking forward to seeing Illinois College again Saturday as they travel to Jacksonville. Next home meet is Friday, November 22, at 6 p.m. against Augustana College.
