Over the past month, the swimmers spent 6 days training with double practices, long and short course, and dryland workouts on the beach. After coming back from a great training trip in West Palm Beach, Florida, the Scots are coming close to the season’s end.
Arriving back on campus for the second semester, the Scots celebrated their seniors, Morgan Abraham, Rik Doornenbal, Brittany Lira, and Rachel Sitko, at their last home meet against Knox on January 18th. The team also celebrated Knox’s seniors as they do not have their own senior night. The Scots were very strong in the water, winning all but two events and a great finale featuring a record-breaking performance. At this meet, the 200 mixed free relay time was broken by Jaidlyn Sellers (FR), Joseph Addison (FR), Maggie Wingo (SO), and Preston Bocchi (JR). The new school record is 1:38.12.
This past weekend the swim team went down to Principia College for a 2-day invitational. For the Friday Sprint Invitational, the team placed third overall. For Saturday, the women took third and the men took second.
The Scots’ season will come to an end with the Midwest Conference Swimming and Diving Championships February 14-16. Scots are excited to hit the road and get some personal or season bests!
