This weekend will mark the culmination of the entire season for the Monmouth College men’s and women’s swim teams as they are set to compete in the Midwest Conference Championships this weekend in Grinnell, Iowa.
The Scots should expect to have several individuals contending for first place finishes this weekend. Among those returning is conference champion Preston Bocci, who will be coming off of an individual title in the 50-yard freestyle from last year. The men also look to have key contributors in the longer swimming events, with the 1000 and 1650- meter breaststroke events featuring Monmouth swimmers Tyler Davis and Rik Doornebal.
For the women, the shorter swimming events should prove to be successful, with key contributions from both underclassmen and veterans expected. Freshmen Jaidlyn Sellers and Becca Waxberg will both be looking to score by placing in the top eight in their respective events. Senior Miranda Pasky will look to end her swimming career on a high note as she is expected to be a scorer in the 100 breaststroke.
The meet is set to go at 10am today, February 14, in Grinnell.
