Spring nights are some of my favorite nights. Whether it be sitting under the stars, going for a walk, or just hanging out with friends. There is so much to do in some fairly nice weather. And what could be better than under the lights at a baseball field while playing catch with a friend. '
Field of Dreams follows Ray Kinsella, played by Kevin Costner. Ray is a farmer in Iowa who hears a voice while out in his cornfield. The voice told him “If you build it, he will come”. Ray felt a need to act on this and did. He builds a baseball diamond on his cornfield and one night, famous, ‘Shoeless’, Joe Jackson appeared from the cornfield. The voice returns after Ray builds the field and goes on a journey to Boston in search of an old gentleman who was once a famous speaker. After his trip to Boston, Ray and the man he finds in Boston travel to Minnesota. While on his journey, Ray gets notice from his wife that the bank wants to foreclose on his house. If the bank forecloses on the house, Ray loses everything he has and will never fulfill the reason of the voice. Throughout the movie, the rest of the Chicago 8 and other baseball greats appear on the field and eventually a game ensues. The game brings the Kinsella family closer together and Ray learns a lesson after the game.
Even though life can become a giant mess with stressors and obstacles, sometimes finding the small happy things in life make those problems go away for a little while. Especially with exams and midterms right around the corner, make sure to take some time to appreciate the small things in life.
