The Monmouth College men’s lacrosse team split a pair of regular season matchups last week.
First, they dominated at home against Clarke University, winning by a score of 10-2. Next; however, the Scots fell to Marian University 2-6.
The first game was played under adverse conditions, as it was very cold and windy. This did not stop Monmouth from scoring 10 goals, four of which were scored by Croy Seagren.
Chase Cranford also made huge contributions to the win, scoring two goals and recording two assists. Adding to the scoring for the Scots was Nick Lundberg, Kyle Hatfield, Jack Koenn, Joe Incorvati, and Shane Herkert.
This ended up being a huge win: Monmouth’s second win of the season, and it improved the Scots’ home record to a perfect 2-0.
Next, in an afternoon away game in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, the Scots squared off against Marian University.
After a scoreless first period, Marian scored four goals
in the second period to break the tie. Monmouth responded; however, in the form of a goal from Mitch Perez.
The Scots continued to show resilience, as Chase Cranford’s goal in the third period narrowed the margin to two. The effort fell short, however, as Marian answered with two more goals in the final period. This was Monmouth’s second loss of the season, and it moved the Scots’ record to 2-2 on the season.
