On Saturday, Oct. 2, Monmouth College’s Order of Omega inducted two new members into the Fraternity and Sorority Alumni Hall of Fame.
The purpose of the Order of Omega Hall of Fame is to celebrate those who are not only outstanding in their own chapters within their own time, but also for outstanding achievements within the greater Greek community and in their own lives.
“Each of our inductees were chosen for this esteemed privilege because of the honor they have brought upon our fraternity and sorority community,” said Order of Omega President Owen Mane-Davies as he welcomed attendees for the honoring of Mary Ann Larsen Zimmerman ‘88 and Mary Grable McLeod ‘87
Order of Omega Vice President, Grace Simpson said in her opening remarks, “One of the most rewarding aspects of fraternity and sorority life at Monmouth College is the opportunity to work with outstanding individuals from all walks of life. Though each chapter differs in their individual experiences, all Greeks on this campus, past or present, are given the opportunity to develop into refined and responsible leaders. This is evident not only in the active membership but also in the fine alumni who are here today.”
Aluma of the Kappa Delta sorority Mary Zimmerman said, “I consider it a great honor to have my name added to the list of others who have made lifelong commitments to their sororities and fraternities.”
Zimmerman is a human resources business partner in Tempe, Arizona. While at Monmouth, she was her Pledge Class Secretary, Chapter Secretary, and eventually Chapter President. Zimmerman is now the Chapter Advisor for the Arizona State University Kappa Delta Chapter. She serves as the Advisor for the Vice President officer and was the Advisor for the Standards officer. Zimmerman is a member of the Phoenix Valley of the Sun Alumni Chapter, where she serves as the Young Alum Recruitment and Event Committee Chair as well as the Social Media Committee Chair. She also volunteers for the Kappa Delta Foundation as a National KD Scholarship Application Review Committee member.
Alumna of the Pi Beta Phi sorority Mary Grable McLeod is a leader in stem cell research at Standford Healthcare. She has served the San Mateo and Palo Alto alumni clubs. McLeod raised over $7,000 for literacy initiatives while in the Palo Alto club and was President from 2011 to 2015. She is currently the Palo Alto membership coordinator. McLeod has been the Social Media Chair since 2008 in the San Mateo club. McLeod has been nationally recognized by Pi Beta Phi three times. She was nominated for the Emma Harper Turner Leadership Award and was the 2021 recipient of the Carolyn Helman Lichtenburg Crest Award.
The Order of Omega Hall of Fame display is located in the Mellinger Commons of the Center of Science and Business for all to see.
