This summer is going to be different than the summers we are used to, but it can still be fun and exciting. The summer is a great time to read just for fun and not for an assignment. While libraries may not be open right now, most have ways to access e-books and audiobooks. A fun idea is to start a book club with your friends and have weekly check-ins from a safe distance away or over the phone.
Another fun social distancing activity for this summer is hiking. Depending on local restrictions, parks make a great place to get out of the house and get some fresh air. You can also participate in some community service like trash pickup. Host a competition with either your family or your friends to see who can pick up the most trash in your neighborhoods. This game will keep you entertained while bettering the planet. Backyard camping is a great way to experience the outdoors while still maintaining social distancing.
Another fun activity to do this summer while practicing social distancing is trying new local restaurants by ordering take-out. We may not be able to have our usual summer but there are still plenty of ways to have fun with our friends while practicing safe social distance.
