Saturday, May 3rd the Fighting Scots track and field team hosted their last home track meet and honored senior athletes.
The Scots won nine events: five from the men’s team, and four from the women’s.
Shane Anderson won both the hammer throw and discus, with throws of 51.86m and 43.29m; Matthew Bright won the pole vault clearing 3.70m; Colton Hutson won javelin throwing 51.52m; and Blake Orwig won the shot put with a throw of 14.37m.
Makaiha Moore-Bell won the 100m dash with a time of 12.49 seconds; Maddie Boley won both the shot put and discus with throws of 13.49m and 45.85m; and Jillian Toth was the winner of the hammer throw with a throw of 52.24m.
With outdoor conferences coming up, there’s a big chance for redemption in some events and continuing winning streaks.
The 4x400m relay team during the indoor conference after being conference champions four straight times. “We had a really good run from my sophomore year to junior year; we were a little disappointed indoor this year, and I know we’re trying to get back to the winning bracket we’re a fast group and we know how to do it because we’ve done it before,” said Eli Newton, a senior runner.
The Scots next track meet takes place in Wisconsin May 9th and 10th, where they’ll compete for an outdoor conference championship.
