After a six match winning streak, Scots volleyball lost to Lake Forrest on Saturday afternoon in 4 sets (25-23, 23-25, 22-25, and 15-25)
In the first set, Zoe Nizzia (Pekin, Illinois) scored a point with a kill and an attack mistake by the opponents extended the lead to 16-11 prompting a timeout from the Foresters. Amanda Dybal, (Apex, North Carolina) gave the Scots a 6 point lead with a kill. Kenzie Russell (Morton, Illinois) scored another point with a kill after Lake Forest regained control. The Foresters mounted a comeback, tying the set at 21-21, but Nizzia's kill put the Scots back in the lead at 23-21. Nizzia secured another point with a kill to win the set, and an error by Lake Forest handed the Scots a 25-23 first set victory.
"I thought our team played hard and we did a lot of great things,” said Head Coach Derrick Broekemier. “Tough loss for us, but we will rebound this week against Knox and Greenville."
The scots would drop the last three sets. Wright led with 11 kills and Alana Robertson (Mapleton, Illinois) had 22 assists. Robertson, Layne Wright (Davenport, Iowa) and Nizzia all had 11 digs and Wright had four aces. .
The Scots face Greenville University on Friday for Homecoming Weekend/Alumni Night at 6:00 p.m.
