On February 21, Monmouth College Men’s Lacrosse searched for a win against Wabash College after taking a home opener loss but fail chort. Carlos Hernandez and Kain Donohoo scored 4 goals each and Kai Johnson and Ben LaFrenere scoring their first collegiate goals.
In the first quarter Wabash took the lead with a score 3-0 scoring first 2 points within the opening 2 minutes. In the start of the second quarter, Hernandez scores first for the team giving Donohoo the assist. Wabash answers back with 2 goals until the duo goes on to score again with Hernandez scoring and then Johnson lands a shot with an assist from Michael Casey. Fighting Scots goalie Nehemiah Declaw went down with a head injury and Wabash scores 5 times giving them a 12-4 lead in half.
Opening the 2nd half, Declaw came back into the game and Scots struggle to score and close the margin with Wabash getting quick transition scores. Casey used a spin move to get past a defender and scored his first goal of the game. The score at the end of the 3rd quarter was 16-9 and the scoring from both sides continued with Wabash scoring first and Donohoo answering back. The Scots did everything possible to stay in the game but ended the game with a 20-12 loss.
