This past Saturday, the Fighting Scots track teams took a trip to Beloit, Wisconsin to compete for the first time in over a year. For their first outing of the 2021 season, the Scots took the track against the Lake Forest Foretsers and Beloit Bucaneers. The Scots took advantage of the day earning several event wins and season bests. Sophomore Reed Wilson pole vaulted a height of 4.75 meters putting him at the top of the Midwest conference rankings and 6th in nation. Junior Joseph Oradiegwu triple jumped a mark of 14.05 also putting him in the lead of the conference rankings and 14th in division III. Senior Drew Thaxton brought dominant performances in multiple events. At conclusion of the day, Thaxton leads in the shot put, discuss, and hammer throw while also holding the 7th best mark in shot put in the nation. Accompanying Drew, Senior Clay Schulenberg and Senior Hannah McVey also left the weekend leading the Midwest Conference in their respective events. In the sprint events, Senior Kenzie Baker and Senior Zach Vancil brought home first place finshes. Seniors Alex Cutright and Austin Pfau both lead 1st and 2nd in the conference rankings the 110 meter hurdles after the contest. In the distance, junior Riley Dulin and senior Griff Morrill went 1st and 2nd in the 1500 meter run. The Scots return to the track this Saturday (4/10) at home.
