The Women's and Men’s swim teams combined to win 19 out of 20 events at their last meet on Saturday, January 28th against Knox College. Also, the team celebrated their seniors Kaitlyn Fox, Lauren Fulscher, Kayle Heumann, Lauren Johnson, Bella Peetz, Jaidlyn Sellers, and Ashling Staunton.
The Women’s team won every event and also placed second in 8 out of the 10 events. “The team’s overall strength is the bond we all share, everyone cares for and supports one another” said senior, Kayle Heumann. Senior Jaidlyn Seller won the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. The 200 Freestyle was won by Lauren Fulscher, the 100 breaststroke was won by Lauren Johnson, and the 200 IM was won by Mady Gaus. The 100 fly was won by Nicole Fitch, the 500 freestyle was won by Evelyn Schaefer, and the 100 freestyle was won by Ashling Staunton. The Women’s team also won both the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay.
The Men’s team won 9 of 10 events. Tristan Kennon won the 50 free and the 100 free, while Finn Van Dyke won the 200 free and 100 backstroke. Camden Schmidt won the 100 breaststroke and Ethan Main won the 200 IM and Brady Hild won the 500 freestyle. The team also won both the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.
The teams will head to Grinnell College for the Midwest Conference Championship on February 17th, 2023.
