The Fighting Scots delivered a dominant performance Saturday with a 29-0 win over the University of Chicago. With this victory, the Scots tightened their grip on the Midwest Conference race. The Scots continue their tear, claiming the throne as the only unbeaten team showcasing a balanced attack and a solid defense.
The Scots came out swinging on the opening drive with a punt block by linebacker Ethan James.
“They never stood a chance,” said James. Quarterback Brayden Deem would go on to score a 30-yard rushing touchdown, and the Scots never looked back.

Controlling the tempo the whole game, the Scots would hold Chicago to a mere 5 yards on the ground and force multiple turnovers that swung momentum in Monmouth’s favor throughout the game.
Quarterback play and a strong rushing attack paced the Scots offense, while the defense dominated the trenches, recording several sacks and keeping Chicago’s passing game in check. The shutout marked one of Monmouth’s most complete performances of the season, reflecting both discipline and depth on both sides of the ball.
Deem had to exit the game due to injury but later came back in to finish the job. The senior rushed for 75 yards and got a score on his feet. Not afraid to put his head down and secure first downs. When asked about his “no slide” mentality, it was clear that he wasn’t afraid of some bruises.
“When the conference championship is on the line, your mind doesn’t think about sliding,” Deem said.
