The Monmouth College football team etched their name into the history books with a record-breaking performance, amassing 720 yards of total offense in their 69-9 victory over Grinnell College.
From the beginning, Monmouth displayed dominance on the field, scoring on their first eight drives without punting.
The Scots' first drive, which started from their six-yard line, set the tone. Quarterback Carter Boyer set up a precise passing attack, connecting with his receivers, including Nate Thornton (Wide Receiver) and Brendon Bishop (Wide Receiver). Running Back Nate Wrublik also made significant contributions.
Monmouth continued to pile on the points in subsequent drives. Touchdowns and additional scores from Boyer to Thornton and Bishop extended their lead, reaching 28-0 at the end of the first half.
The Scots opened the third quarter with another surge, quickly taking a commanding 35-0 lead. They followed up with a storm of touchdowns, showcasing their offensive skill with Boyer connecting with multiple receivers. The scoring barrage resulted in a four-touchdown quarter, and the scoreboard displayed a staggering 56-0 lead.
While the Scots' defense maintained, they did concede a late score in the fourth quarter. But the game's outcome had long been decided, and Monmouth had already made their statement.
Next up for Monmouth College football is a home game against Lake Forest College on Saturday, November 1st.
