On Saturday, Feb.15th, the Scots track team hosted their annual Roger Haynes Invitational in the indoor track facility. This track meet saw 23 PR’s (personal records) and a lot of players moved up the rankings in Scots history.
Shane Anderson and Caleb Toberman both climbed the school rankings in the weight throw with throws over 19 meters. Anderson now has the third best weight throw in school history, while Toberman has the fourth best throw in school history.
Eli Newton ran a time of 4:19 in the mile with his only competition being when he was passing his competitors for the second time in the race, and with this time he has tied Riley Dulin for the fourth best mile in school history.
Johnny York and Kani Carson met in the 60 meter finals where they both ran 7.06 and York won by a hundredth of a second. They are now tied for ninth in school history for the 60 meter dash.
Miranda Hursey had a personal best in the pole vault clearing a height of 3.52 meters which puts her fourth in Scots history for the pole vault.
There were a lot of first place finishes at this meet for the Scots, and that means those players got a Roger Haynes Invitational champion shirt.
Starting off the running events the 4x200 meter relay team, Janius Taylor, Davon Patterson, Kani Carson, and Patrick Curry Jr placed first.
Toberman took first place in the shot put with a 16.27 meter throw. Taylor also took first place with a 22.58 200 meter dash. Matt Bright came in first in the Pole Vault clearing 3.45 meters, Tashawn Ruffin won triple jump with a personal best of 13.68 meters.
Maddie Boley took first place in the weight throw with a 17.65 meter throw, and she also won the shot put with a throw of 13.37 meters. Samantha Costello won the mile with a time of 5 minutes and 48 seconds, which was a 6 second personal record. Lastly, Danielle Johnson won the 800 meter dash with a time of 2 minutes and 36 seconds.
