Registering to vote and voting

PSA for Illinois voters: If you’re not registered to vote, TOMORROW is the online deadline!!! Head on over to https://ova.elections.il.gov/ to get registered in a snap. Don’t know if you’re registered? Check https://ova.elections.il.gov/RegistrationLookup.aspx to find out.

After you’re registered, you can officially exercise your democratic right to vote. While Super Tuesday is next week on March 3, Illinois has to wait for our general primary election on Tuesday, March 17. In Illinois, you will have to choose whether to vote on a Republican or Democratic ballot. Head to your local county cleark’s office website to see a sample ballot for your precinct (find your precinct through the next link). While you may know the big names up for election, there are often smaller seats that you’ll have to decide on too. It doesn’t hurt to be informed and confident walking into the polling place.

By no means do you have to wait until election day to make your voice heard - early voting is open now until March 16! All you have to do is head to your local polling place, which you can find here: https://ova.elections.il.gov/PollingPlaceLookup.aspx. On election day, just ehad to this same place. It might be busier, but there’s nothing like the satisfaction of wearing your “I voted” sticker for the rest of the day. While ID’s aren’t required to vote, it never hurts to have one handy in case there is a fumble with paperwork. Other than that, all you need is your voice. Go be heard!
