Last weekend, the Monmouth College Cheer team held their annual tryouts for the upcoming season.
Out of the 11 women who tried out, six were new to the team. During tryouts, attendees were taught a cheer and how to do jumps before they were judged.
Kaitlyn Courtright, the team’s head captain, said the team is also preparing to have tryouts again in the fall, after the involvement fair in August.
“We allow anyone interested to tryout,” said Courtright. “We are hoping to add a few more girls for the upcoming football season, experience is preferred but not necessary as we are happy to teach new people.”
As an incoming senior, Courtright said she is excited for homecoming and senior day performances because that is when the hard work pays off.
