Course registration for fall and summer classes is upon us. Students have specific times to register for classes, depending on how many course credits they have.
Registration is completed through the Student Planning section of Monmouth’s Self-Service portal. Tutorials on how to navigate registration can be found on the Monmouth College website’s registrar page. However, students should have received an email from the Office of the Registrar with their registration date and instructions on how to sign up for classes.
Seniors (24+ completed course credits) can register March 31st
Juniors (15+ completed course credits) can register April 2nd
Sophomores (7+ completed course credits) can register April 7th
Freshmen (<7 completed course credits) can register April 9th
Non degree seeking students (with registration clearance) can register April 14th
Registration will open at 7 am on each date and close August 26th, which is the last day to add or drop a course via the Self-Service portal. It’s wise to speak with your advisor before registering to stay on track with requirements and goals for your major and/or minor. Though, keep in mind that all students must accept the “Student Payment and Disclosure Agreement” for the ‘25-’26 academic year PRIOR to registering for classes.
If classes are full by the time you register, you can put yourself on a waitlist until a seat opens in the class. When this happens, you will be sent an email to accept or deny the invitation. In cases where students want to enroll in more than 4.5 course credits a semester, they will need to complete a course overload form. This form can be found on the registrar’s website. Students must get a signature and a letter of support from their advisor.
As for the rest of this spring semester, the last day to drop a full semester class is April 9th. However, if you choose to add or drop a class you must go to the registrar and get a “Change of Registration” form signed by an advisor. You have until April 23rd to drop a second semester eight-week course.
If you plan on taking classes elsewhere in the summer, be sure to fill out the “Request to take Coursework Off Campus” form to ensure your class will transfer over. Monmouth College uses a course credit system, not a credit hour system. A standard three-hour class from a prior school is only worth 0.75 course credits at Monmouth.
If you have additional registration questions, email the registrar’s office at registrar@monmouthcollege.edu, or visit their office in the ACE Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
