Homecoming week’s festivities concluded on Friday night with the annual Spirit Shout hosted by the Association for Student Activity Planning (ASAP). Students came together, celebrating their hard work throughout the week as they kicked off Homecoming weekend.
Friday’s activities consist of choreographed dance routines to a unique mix of songs and a shout category judged on creativity and volume by a selected group of Monmouth community members, faculty, and staff. This year's judges included Communication Studies Department Chair Chris Goble and Associate Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life Jerrie Walters.
Monmouth College cheer and dance teams performed choreographed routines. Most Greek life organizations collaborate with other organizations and participate. Kappa Kappa Gamma, Zeta Beta Tau, and Color Guard had an exciting routine with flipping flags, stunts, and a kick line earning them a first-place finish. Alpha Xi Delta performed a Teen Beach Movie inspired dance with the men’s soccer team, solidifying a second-place finish. In third place was Pi Beta Phi partnered with men’s baseball for the second year in a row.
The Spirit Shout ended with the crowning of the homecoming court. Students spent the past few weeks nominating and voting for representatives from the junior and senior classes. This year's Homecoming Prince and Princess from the junior class were Brayden Deem (Andalusia, IL) and Carina Engst (Bloomington, IL). The 2024 Homecoming King and Queen were Jaydon Wilbon (Merrillville, IN) and Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, IL).
The night ended with a flashy fireworks show at April Zorn Memorial Stadium for students and community members.
