Two early first-half goals and two more on either side of the halftime break proved to be too much for the Scots to handle as undefeated Grinnell walked out of Peacock Park with a 4-0 victory over Monmouth Saturday afternoon. With this result, the Pioneers improve to 6-0 and 1-0 in league play while the Scots dip to 0-7 and 0-1 in league play.
The Pioneers struck first with two quick goals: a header off a corner kick in the second minute and another just a minute later on a breakaway. Grinnell took a 3-0 lead going into halftime with a 36th-minute goal and put the icing on the cake with a 25-yard screamer goal by Samuel Gojjam, who had a brace on the afternoon. The Scots return to Peacock Park Saturday, September 26, for a Family Weekend showdown with Lawrence University, with kickoff scheduled for 11 a.m.
