ASAP’s watch party in the Stockdale Center’s main dining hall was to “create a place where the students can come together and enjoy a game of football,” said Jackson Dempich.
Besides the game, an important element of any watch party is the food. “Thanks to the collaboration with the cafe everything worked out,” said Mohammad Alsheikh.
Alsheikh said that the game could cement the Kansas City Chiefs as a “true dynasty” if they were to win this Superbowl doing something that had never been done before in NFL history, achieving a “3 peat” (winning 3 championships in a row).
This year's matchup, the Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, was a rematch from two years ago when the Chiefs won 35-38. Some might agree with Alsheikh, and some believe it was a “revenge game” for the Eagles.
Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on what team people rooted for, the Eagles came away with a convincing win. The game was over before the final buzzer. The Eagles would put up 34 points on the board before the Chiefs managed to respond with a touchdown late in the third quarter.
With a 40-22 win, the Eagles got their “revenge” and the hopes for the Chief’s 3 peating left as fast as it came.
