Order of Omega hosted its first annual Sock Hop from 6:30 to 8 P.M. in the Fieldhouse. Fraternity and sorority members came together on Saturday, Oct. 26, for a night of dancing, games, and socks. Order of Omega President Bronte De Zwart ‘26, along with Treasurer Hannah McGee ‘26, organized the event.
“Order of Omega is the sorority and fraternity life honor society, and it represents the top five percent of FSL students. It recognizes students for values like academics, scholarship, and involvement,” said De Zwart. “The idea is we haven’t had an all-Greek dance, but everyone likes their own chapter’s formals and semi-formals, so we wanted to have one all together.”

FSL members and their guests paid $5 to attend the 1950s-themed Sock Hop. $4 from each ticket were donated to one of Order of Omega’s philanthropies, the Monmouth-Roseville Education Foundation. The rest of the proceeds were utilized to host the Sock hop.
“Order of Omega likes to swap between the Monmouth-Roseville Education Fund and Special Olympics,” said De Zwart. “Since the Jog-a-Thon was Special Olympics, we chose Monmouth-Roseville for this one.”
Guests were provided refreshments, photo backdrops and props, games, music, and dancing for a throwback-themed evening.
“I encourage everyone to come to our future events so hopefully we can host something like this again,” said De Zwart.
