Monmouth College has undergone several changes this past year, including a new employee payroll system.
Deena McLaughlin, the Payroll Manager and Human Resources Specialist at Monmouth College, has been closely involved with the new installment of the payroll system.
“We knew we needed to move to an updated payroll system,” said McLaughlin. “Paycom has so many good features. Employees can see all of their information.”
The previous payroll system, Colleague, had grown outdated. According to McLaughlin, a switch was needed to a more streamlined and simplified pay system.
“There is a lot more transparency through the Paycom system that we were not able to have through the Colleague system,” said McLaughlin. “You can make sure that your direct deposit information is correct. You can check your punches and hours. You can go back and look at previous checks.”
Additionally, Paycom allows student workers to add a phone number, access W-2 tax forms, and change their address. These benefits can help employees see everything concerning their payroll.
With all the changes, complications have arisen. There have been challenges with people getting used to using a new system. “Issues can be fixed much faster and in a timely manner,” said McLaughlin.
McLaughlin is providing several resources to help get people situated. “I am sending out training videos. We have been offering live training for employees,” said McLaughlin. “It is really a matter of every employee knowing how to use the system.”
To help get used to the system, McLaughlin has a few tips.
“Students that have multiple positions should make sure they select the correct allocation,” said McLaughlin. “Try to get onto Paycom every few days and view your Webcom time sheet. You want to make sure you are getting paid for the hours that you have been working.”
McLaughlin is also willing to lend a hand to students or employees who may need help accessing Paycom.
“If you have any questions, please come in and see me so we can make sure you understand the system,” said McLaughlin. “You can either stop in and see me or make an appointment with me and I will be happy to take you through and help you with any situation you are having trouble with.”
