On Wednesday, October 26th, the Monmouth College Writing Club had its first workshop session. Students had time to write freely and could share their paper in front of others and get feedback.
One different thing about the organization is the use of Latin for titles and the schedule. Every week, students can get help from a person who has the Officium Acolythi – Duty of the acolyte. “Everyone can be an acolyte. Instead of viewing them as someone who has power, you can see them as a servant who can help you” says Edrass Chavez, the student who launched the organization.
The Writing Workshop will take place every Wednesday, from 8 to 9 pm. “We want to provide a safe place for students to write creatively and express themselves without judgement […] they can learn and grow at their own pace”.
