My ESA is a calico cat named Rosemary. We do not know her exact age but I have had her for the last fifteen years. Our best guess is that she is around twenty-two years old. However, she is still very active and loves to play. This is her first year on campus and so far she has enjoyed her stay. The typical day with Rosemary includes her trying to steal my food while I eat breakfast and a few minutes playing with the laser pointer before I go to class. While on campus she spends most of her day watching birds and students through the window. Since she grew up around dogs she’ll often try to bark at anyone who gets too close to her window. A lot of people who meet her think she is super sweet because she purrs a lot but she is an absolute brat and a thief. Since moving to campus she has stolen countless pizza rolls, french fries, and chicken nuggets from my plate when I wasn’t paying attention. She doesn’t even eat them, just leaves it all in a pile by the trash can. My favorite new behavior with her on campus is when she figured out how to turn my laptop off to get my attention. This is actually a fairly recent development. I was writing a midterm essay pretty late at night when she decided that I was not giving her the amount of attention she deserved. At first, she did it by accident when she sat on the keyboard. Then as I continued to work she would sit next to the laptop and hit the power button with her paw before getting onto the keyboard.
