Things are looking up on campus despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Like myself, many other fighting scots are longing for fighting scots sports to return. In this quiet time, it gives us the opportunity to look back on many of the great accomplishments Monmouth College athletics has achieved in its long history. In paticular, Saturday afternoon football is missed on campus. Reflecting back on the 2015 season, this week five years ago the Scots won big against conference opponent Beloit Collge. In the 2015 season, the Beloit Buccaneers were notorious for having a high powered offense. During the contest, the Scots were able to force three turnovers in the form of interceptions with the two out of three taken away by Nyles Stevens ‘17. Along with the three take aways, the Scots were able to hold the Buccaneers on the ground as well. The Scots Defense held the Buncaneers to 21 points with two sacks and six tackles for a loss.
On offense, The Scots were just as electric. On the ground, the Scots rolled down the field with 298 total rushing yards. Tanner Shafer 16’ lead the Scots with 117 rushing yards and two touchdowns. DeAndreWright ‘19 collaborated with Shafer in the backfield and contributed 89 rushing yards.
Commanding the Scots at Quarterback, Tanner Matlick ‘17 threw for 180 yards resulting in two touchdowns.
On the Day, the Scots punded the Buccaneers 41-21.
