Last weekend, tennis picked up a huge conference win against St. Norbert in a narrow 5-4 victory to move to 2-1 in conference play.
In doubles play, Zach Harris and Joseph Shie picked up the first win of the day in an 8-5 decision. That was the only W that the Scots would get in doubles play before moving to singles matches.
However, Monmouth turned the tide in singles play claiming victories in four of the six matches. The Shie brothers picked up a pair of victories in the No. 1 and 2 singles matches. Joseph Shie won in consecutive sets 6-3, 6-1. Andrew Shie followed suit with 6-0 and 6-3 set wins.
Zach Harris kept the momentum rolling as he claimed a victory in the No. 3 match. Harris won in sets two sets with a pair of 6-4 outcomes. Alex Martin was the difference maker on the afternoon that gave the Scots the slim 5-4 win. Martin edged out his St. Norbert opponent 7-6 before breezing to a 6-2 win in set two.
Up next, tennis looks to keep the momentum rolling when they host Grinnell and Cornell in a pair of conference matches on Apr. 13 with start times set for 9 AM and 3 PM.
