Scots men’s tennis opened up their season with a road loss February 18 falling to Illinois Wesleyan 0-9.
“It's been great…just getting to know the athletes that I have, and also just going around campus and stuff,” said first year head coach, Brian Dahlstrom, “It's really been great. I've had a lot of support from coaches and the other departments.”.
The men’s tennis team had four players at the season opener, three sophomores and a freshman. “I think it was going to be an interesting experience for both the team and for me just to see kind of where we were going to be when we actually were playing other people besides ourselves in practice…” said Dahlstrom. “What I kind of told the team was that I thought we passed the “I” test. And what I mean by that is that, you know, we look like tennis players out there.”
Freshman player Macaden Sepich made his college debut, “I was nervous, but after going in and playing a little bit, I got less nervous and started to do a little better,” said Sepich. “Just in the three four months, I've improved incredibly just by him (Dahlstrom) coaching me. So, I think if he just keeps coaching us the way he is, I think our team will eventually be pretty good.” The Scots play their first home matches on April 15th at 3:00 p.m. against Lake Forest College.
