Men’s tennis opened their spring campaign, dropping a 5-4 decision to Aurora University and 8-1 final to North Central College.
On Fri. in the No. 1 singles match, Jo-seph Shie made quick work of Aurora’s Jared Burrow winning 6-2 and 6-0 in two sets. Alex Martin dropped a close first set 7-6, before being bested 6-3 in set two.
The No. 2 and 4 singles players for the Scots picked up a pair of wins to add to the to the victory tallies. Zach Harris won in consecutive sets 6-4, 6-2. Brendan Guenther followed suit downing Aurora’s Colin Ritchie 6-4 and 6-3.
The Scots picked up their lone doubles victory as Joseph Shie and Zach Harris downed Aurora’s duo 8-2.
On Sat. Monmouth returned to the courts against North Central College. Joseph Shie defeated Victor Krueger in the No. 1 singles matchup taking set one 6-0 and set two 6-4. The Cardinals made quick work of the No. 2 through 5 in singles play, dropping only two sets in the four matches.
The Scots dropped both doubles matches as Shie and Harris fell 8-4, while Martin and Guenther dropped their contest 8-2.
