Thursday afternoon, the men's soccer team faced off against Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP). After Thursday’s draw, they sit at 2-2-1.
Early into the game there was a yellow card picked up by Jack Hudson from UWSP, an incident important later in the game.
Overall, in the first half of the game, UWSP took six shots, and five of them were saved by Scots’ goalie Alejandro Zamarripa. On the flip side, Monmouth took eight shots, seven missed but one was saved by UWSP’s goalie Jacob Havlik.
“After you have six or seven shots, you know you are doing better offensively than the other team,” said Kristopher Ruiz, Scots Midfielder.
In the second half, UWSP had five shots at goal and Monmouth had two saves by Luis Villa. Monmouth had nine shots at goal with UWSP saving five by Havlik.
“After a draw you feel like you didn’t accomplish what you needed to during the game, and you feel like you missed every detail the whole 90 minutes we just couldn’t score,” said Ruiz. “It depends on the team as far as if it feels like a loss or not, but tonight definitely does feel more like a loss because we really had them.”
